If you’re considering cloth or just wondering why in the world would someone ever choose to use this archaic system of diapering, here is an easy graphic to highlight just of the few ways cloth diapers compare to disposable diapers.
We chose to use cloth diapers because I was concerned about all of the waste that would be produced if we used disposable diapers. Now that we have been cloth diapering for almost two years, here are my top three favorite benefits:
- I NEVER have to run to the store if we run out of diapers. I am a last minute planner and I’m usually the one that forgets ingredients when planning to make a meal and I absolutely despise having to run to the store for a last minute trip. All I have to do is run a load of laundry when I run out of diapers or wipes.Â
- I’ve saved a ton of money! It pains me to walk down the diaper aisle and imagine the cost people have to spend on diapers and wipes.Â
- My daughter is potty training sooner. She is 22 months and we’ve already got her using the training toilet (inconsistently). I can’t be certain this is a direct correlation, but I have heard many people claim cloth diapers do help get to potty training quicker. I think the reason is that she can feel when she is wet. Regardless, I’m excited about not having to change her diaper as often!
- BONUS BENEFIT: Cloth diapers are so much cuter than disposable diapers!
Salem Cloth Project sells reusable products so that we can purchase cloth diapers and provide them to families in need. But we are also your cloth diapering resource.
